For over 75 years, Mottahedeh & Co has been committed to excellence in dinnerware design and is world-renowned for patterns reproduced and adapted from rare antiques.  In keeping with the motto of the company--Tradition For A Modern World, Mottahedeh & Co. continues as a premier design company which seeks to imbue the enduring ancient designs with new life.  Mottahedeh has licensing programs for authorized reproductions with major museums worldwide including:  Colonial Williamsburg; Historic Charleston; Historic Natchez; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Monticello; Musee des Arts Decoratifs; Stately Homes of England; Winterthur.  This extyravagant design was originally made in China, probably for export to the Portuguese and Brazilian markets.  Of all the 18th-century dinnerware patterns, this waas the most highly prized.  A small phoenix bird perches on the leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant.  Twenty-seven colors and 22 k gold make up this pattern based on an original in the Metropolitan Mueseum of Art.
