Wendt and Kuehn was the brain child of Grete Wendt, who, in 1915, founded her own woodworking studios in the heart of Germany, in the small mountain village of Grunhainichen. For more than 90 years, the workshops of Wendt and Kuehn have been a bustling cradle of heavenly little angels, adorable Blossom Kinder and colorful droves of charming wooden figures cherished the world over. The expert woodturners, gluers, sanders and painters still produce all the figures by hand, fully continuing the graceful tradition so prevalent in Grete's time. Hans Kunterbunt is a beloved figure in German children's literature.
